Install the camera

You can use any DSLR camera with the MixUp Booth.

Supported cameras

If you use our MixUp software, you can use any Canon camera or webcam that can record at 30 fps — we mostly use the M50. You can also use a Sony (and others) through a video capture device. For the full list of supported cameras, see Which camera to choose.

Prepare the camera

Before you start, turn the camera on, set it to M mode, and insert a memory card. Make sure it saves JPEGs (not RAW). If you plan to use a flash, also turn on the flash function.

Our favourite camera settings for MixUp software

• Shutter speed: 1/100
• Aperture: 3.5
• ISO: 800 (lower it if the shot is too bright)
• Temperature: about 4800 (raise it if the picture is too blue, lower it if it’s too yellow)

Note

In our software, flash works only with Canon cameras.

Wire the camera inside the booth

This shows how to route all the cables inside the booth. We recommend using a fake battery (it’s different for each camera model), and you’ll also need a cable to connect the camera to a USB port on the booth.
