Replace the controller

This guide shows how to replace the controller on older 360 platforms to make them Bluetooth-compatible.

Caution

Before you disconnect anything, take a clear photo of the cable order — you’ll need it to reconnect the cables in the same order.

Tools you need

• Flat-blade screwdriver, 3 mm
• 5.5 mm hex bit socket

Replace a black controller

1. Find the black controller box. If you have a green controller, it will be next to it; if you have a red controller, it will be on the other electronic panel. If your controller box looks different, see the second part below. If you can’t find the controller, take a photo of the inside of your platform and send it to support@dzentech.store.

2. Take a photo of the cables. Then, with the flat-blade screwdriver, unscrew the cables going to the black controller box.

3. Unscrew the top of the box with the 5.5 mm hex bit socket and remove the cover.

4. Unplug the mini-USB cable going to the controller.

5. Gently take out the controller.

6. Unscrew the 4 bolts on the new Bluetooth controller box with the hex bit socket, then take the controller out of the box.

7. Place the new controller inside the platform and plug the mini-USB cable back in.

8. Fit the new cover from the box that came with the new controller (this is important — the old cover is too low). You won’t need the rest of the transport box. Secure the new cover using the 5.5 mm hex bit socket.

9. Screw all the cables back to the new controller. Check the photo you took earlier — all cables must be in the same order. Your cable order may look different from ours.

10. All done — test it. You can now connect to the platform by USB cable or by Bluetooth. For Bluetooth control you’ll need a small dedicated app (install it on the laptop with the license). See the Bluetooth guide.

If your controller looks different

You don’t need this part if your controller matches the one in the first part.

If your controller box is located next to the power unit and looks like this, you’ll need two tools: a ratchet with a Phillips PH2 bit and a flat-blade (straight) screwdriver, 3 mm.

1. Take a photo of the cables going to the controller box. Unscrew all the cables with the flat-blade screwdriver and unplug the mini-USB cable.

2. Use the ratchet with the Phillips PH2 bit to unscrew your current box from the bottom of the box (see the video).

3. Screw on the new box using the same ratchet.

4. Screw all the cables back to the controller box and reconnect the mini-USB cable. Your cable order may look different from ours.

5. All done — test it. You can now connect to the platform by USB cable or by Bluetooth. For Bluetooth control you’ll need a small dedicated app (it’s free if you have a license).
