Troubleshooting the first run
The issues below are the ones that most often stop a fresh install from running a clean first session. Each lists the symptom, the cause, and the fix.
The camera won’t start
Section titled “The camera won’t start”Symptom: The countdown fails or you see “Can’t start camera” / a lost-connection message; no live preview.
Cause: The camera isn’t reachable — USB/power issue, another program is holding the camera, or a Canon/EDSDK session didn’t close cleanly.
Fix:
- Check the camera’s power and USB cable.
- Close any other app that might use the camera (Canon utilities, video tools).
- Re-connect / re-pair the camera, then retry. The booth logs “camera connection restored” once it recovers.
For wireless cameras, confirm the Wi-Fi adapter, network name, and password in the camera settings.
A button or icon shows up blank
Section titled “A button or icon shows up blank”Symptom: A UI button (for example the language/region “globe” icon) renders blank
or broken; the log notes a missing image such as System\UI\globe-b.png.
Cause: A UI asset is missing from bin\data\System\UI\.
Fix: Restore the missing file from a clean copy of the build, or reinstall MixUp
so the full System\UI\ asset set is present.
“No printers found on your system!”
Section titled ““No printers found on your system!””Symptom: Printing options are unavailable and you see “No printers found on your system!”.
Cause: No printer is installed/visible to Windows, so the app’s printer list is empty.
Fix: Install the printer in Windows and confirm it appears in the system printer list, then re-open the print settings in MixUp so it re-enumerates printers.
AI effect falls back to a demo / watermarked result
Section titled “AI effect falls back to a demo / watermarked result”Symptom: An AI template renders as a demo (or won’t run paid), with a message like “Some projects has Ai paid render, but you trying to use DEMO render.”
Cause: The project uses paid AI rendering, but the session is running in demo mode (no AI credits).
Fix: Top up AI credits for the account and confirm the project is set to the paid render path before the event. Full AI setup is covered in the AI/Capture sections.
