Cameras
MixUp captures through an external camera. This section covers which cameras are supported and how to connect and configure each.
Supported cameras
Section titled “Supported cameras”From the app’s own camera list:
- Canon DSLR / mirrorless (USB) — the main photo camera, controlled over USB (EDSDK). Full exposure control. See Canon cameras.
- GoPro — connected over USB or Wi-Fi; Live View on newer models. See GoPro.
- Garmin VIRB 360 — connected over Wi-Fi. See Wireless cameras.
- Webcam / stream camera — a standard USB webcam via DirectShow, for simple setups or testing.
How connection works
Section titled “How connection works”Every camera moves through the same status states, shown in the UI:
Connecting → Connected → (Not connected / error). Errors are specific: wrong mode, empty device list, or wrong camera.
- USB cameras (Canon, GoPro with the webcam app, webcam) connect when plugged in and detected.
- Wireless cameras (GoPro, Garmin) connect over a Wi-Fi network using a WiFi Adapter, WiFi Name, and WiFi Password. GoPro also connects over USB — see GoPro.
Live camera check
Section titled “Live camera check”Before each shot the booth runs a live camera check during the countdown. If the camera isn’t ready you’ll see a “Can’t start camera” error — see Troubleshooting the first run.
Set the camera rotation
Section titled “Set the camera rotation”MixUp can’t know the physical orientation of your camera, so set the camera rotation to match how the camera is actually mounted.
Getting this right makes the live view display correctly, the video rotate correctly during recording, and the scale and all downstream processing come out right. This is important — set it before the event.
