Capture Modes & VFX

MixUp captures in a couple of modes and can apply processing to the result.

Capture modes

There are really just two capture modes:

• Photo — a still photo.
• Video — a video clip.

A couple of related things are not capture modes:

• Gallery — not really a mode, just a transition to the event gallery.
• Silent — not a mode either; it’s a step during photo capture.

Which modes are offered per session is set on the mode-select screen (see Run your first session).

Effects, filters, and VFX (video editor)

VFX, effects, and filters are not capture modes — they belong to the video editor, applied to video templates:

• Effects (VFX) — motion effects, collages/layouts, and transitions in the video editor.
• Filters & color (LUT) — color grades and looks.

Processing that applies to both photo and video

These three are set from the Photo menu header and apply to both photo and video:

• Color correction
• Chromakey
• Little Planet

Note

This is about what happens to the captured image — it’s separate from Cameras, which is about the capture device itself.

Ready-made previews

MixUp ships preview thumbnails for its effects (in the app’s System\UI\VFX_Preview\ folder), so you can see what each effect looks like when choosing one.
