What you need to buy

iPad

The Mini works with several iPad models: iPad Pro 12.9“, iPad Pro 11“, or iPad 10.9“ (2022). The 12.9“ gives a bigger screen but costs more.

Power banks

Section titled “Power banks”

You can use up to two power banks — one to charge the iPad and one to run the backlight.

  • The backlight needs a 15 V (3 A) power bank and a type-C power-delivery cable (type-C on both ends). A 26 500 mAh bank lasts about 6 hours powering the backlight only (more or less, depending on your settings). Examples: 1 · 2 · 3
  • The iPad can use any power bank.

For wireless use you’ll also need short cables, depending on your power bank — we mostly use type-C on both ends.

Spare parts

  • Extension cord problems — any DC power extension cord works (example).
  • Leg screws — M5×12 (example).
  • Bottom screws — M5×16 (example).
  • Front-panel screws — M4 wing nuts (example).
  • Power adapter — GST60A12-P1J (example).
