Use tags on photos

A tag connects a survey answer to the photo. In the photo template editor you add a User data layer and point it at a tag (or another dynamic value), and MixUp fills it in per guest.

Note

Tags work in two places. This page covers printing an answer on a photo — a User data layer selects the tag by name. To use a tag in an AI prompt instead, write it inline as $$tag$$ — see Build a survey.

Add a User data layer

In the template editor, Add a User data layer, then choose its data type:

Data type	What it prints
Answer (Tag)	a survey answer, selected by its tag
Signature	the guest’s on-screen signature
Rating bar / PNG bar	a rating rendered as a bar
Date / Date & Time	the session date / date and time
Session ID	the session’s ID
Filename	the content filename
QR Content	the sharing link as a QR code
QR Custom	a custom QR code

Point it at a tag

For an Answer layer, pick the tag of the survey question whose answer you want. At the event, each guest’s answer to that question is printed in that spot. Style it like any text layer (Font, Text color, position, size).

Example

1. In the survey, add a Text question “Your name” with tag firstname.
2. In the photo template, add a User data layer, type Answer, tag firstname.
3. Every printed photo now shows that guest’s name where you placed the layer.

Tip

Keep dynamic layers (name, date, QR) on top of the design so they’re never hidden, and leave enough room for the longest likely answer.
