Create a template

You reach a project’s photo template from the Photo menu (select the project on the main menu, then Photo — see Edit a project).

The Photo menu shows the template’s preview and gives you:

Open editor — open the full template editor.
New — create from a preset layout (below).
New (PNG) — create from a PNG frame (below).
Import / Export — move a template between booths.
Save the preview and layout images.
Background and Overlay — upload these directly: the overlay is a frame drawn over all layers; the background is the bottom layer.
Printer — pick the print option for this project, and run a print test (see Print settings).

Create from a preset layout (New)

Press New. A popup warns that the previous template’s data will be lost — confirm.
The preset layouts gallery opens. Filter it by paper size, paper orientation, or photo orientation to find what you want.
Select a layout and press Select — the template is created.
For a quick template, just upload a Background (under the design/Background section) or an Overlay (a frame on top). That’s often all you need.

Create from a PNG frame (New (PNG))

If you already have a finished frame with photo cutouts, build the template from it:

Press New (PNG) — the same “previous data will be lost” confirmation appears.
Select your PNG frame. MixUp analyzes it and inserts photos where the cutouts are. It even recognizes photo-strip templates — where the photos should be identical vs. different.
If anything isn’t right, open the editor and adjust, move, or replace those layers.

Import & export

You can import photo templates made in MixUp and templates made in dslrBooth — they’re compatible and load in full. Compatibility is about 98%; if anything doesn’t come across, you’ll see it and can tweak it in the editor.

Export builds an export file with the template’s layout and all the files loaded into it. Save the file and send it to a colleague so they can install that exact template on their booth.
